OpenClaw Episode 1: How a Company Demo Became My Personal AI Lab

When I first started hearing about OpenClaw, it was already getting a lot of attention. At the same time, people were also saying it was risky, even dangerous, like it might be the kind of tool that could wipe out everything on a machine if you were not careful.

That was exactly why I did not want to use my main computer. I had an old MacBook lying around, so I decided to reformat the whole machine and use it for this purpose only. The original goal was practical: I needed a safe setup for a company demo, and I wanted a machine that I could treat as an experiment instead of depending on it for daily work.

Once OpenClaw was installed, the setup started to become much more interesting than I expected. I connected Telegram, set up a few agents, and suddenly I could talk to them directly. I had a personal assistant, a trading advisor, and a researcher running in the system. That was the moment it stopped feeling like a demo and started feeling like a real working environment.

What surprised me most was that this old machine could actually power all of that. It was not a new, powerful workstation. It was just an old MacBook that I had cleared and repurposed. But with OpenClaw and an OpenRouter account, plus some free models, I was able to make it useful in a very real way.

That changed how I saw the whole project. It was no longer just about testing whether OpenClaw worked. It was about discovering what kind of personal AI setup I could build around it. What began as a cautious response to risk turned into something much bigger: a place to experiment, learn, and slowly build my own AI lab.
